A Dickson man charged with killing his wife says a drug-induced state prompted him to repeatedly strike her with a hammer following a verbal altercation
Morris Long, 23, is charged with first degree murder in the death of Ashlee Long late last month.
Shortly after Ashlee Long, 21 was found dead, Morris Long parked his vehicle near the McCrory Lane exit on Interstate 40 and stepped into oncoming traffic.
He was hit by a tractor trailer but survived.
He was arrested earlier this month following his release from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
According to The Tennessean, Long told investigators he used drugs before a fight with Ashlee, and that he hit her multiple times with a hammer.
Long appeared for a preliminary hearing in Dickson County Friday. The case was bound over to a grand jury.
