The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested a man for stealing money that was raised for a political fundraiser scheduled to be held in October of 2011 in Kingsport.

Fabian Story, 36, of Greeneville, was indicted on one count of theft over $10,000.

According to the TBI, Story was the executive director of the group coordinating the political event and contacted Johnson City political activist Phyllis White to help him raise money.

White raised approximately $30,000 and deposited it in the bank.

The TBI investigation revealed that Story withdrew the money, the event was never held, and money was not refunded to the donors.

Story was arrested by TBI Wednesday at the Rutherford County courthouse where he was appearing on a child support case.

He was booked into jail on a $10,000 bond.
