Police investigate armed robbery at Columbia Family Dollar

Columbia police are continuing to investigate an armed robbery that occurred at a Family Dollar store late Friday afternoon.

According to a report in the Columbia Daily Herald, the incident was reported around 3 p.m. at the retailer located at the Neely's Mills shopping center, at 1412 Trotwood Avenue.

The newspaper reported a deputy pursued a man on foot following the robbery.

Upon catching the man it was determined he was not involved in the robbery, however investigators learned he was wanted by authorities on less serious charges.
