The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said 609 people took advantage of the department's Sober Ride Program on New Year's Eve.
Volunteers from the sheriff's office began providing free rides at 11 p.m. Monday, continuing until 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Last New Year's Eve, volunteers took 850 people home through the annual program.
Organizers said they will now begin focusing on Sober Ride St. Patrick's Day in March.
