A nine-year-old girl named Ava Jones and 25 of her classmates from Hendersonville delivered almost 500 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank Friday.
The classmates also held a digital food drive where people could donate money online.
“It just makes you feel really good to help someone,” Ava said.
Ava told Nashville's News 2 she recently celebrated a birthday and that she had her friends donate to the cause instead of buy a gift.
“I'm just happy that they wanted to do that,” she said.
They raised enough money to provide 2,900 meals to those in need.
