A Nashville ministry that helps the city's homeless get back on their feet is seeking donations to help provide during an especially trying time of year.
Nashville's Room in the Inn is asking local residents to help make someone's Christmas a little brighter by making donations to the organization.
Special Projects Director Karen Stevens expressed, “There is always a need, and those needs are especially felt this time of year.
Stevens said local residents still have time to donate.
The following is a list of essentials the organization needs:
• All-day bus passes
• Large bags of cough drops
• Sweatshirts/hooded sweatshirts in XL, XXL, XXXL
• Men's white tube socks
• Non-drowsy sinus medication
• Aspirin and ibuprofen
• Inexpensive wallets
• Hand and foot warmers
Saturday, George Shinn, Former owner of the New Orleans Hornets and new Nashville resident, will donate more than 60 pairs of shoes to the organization.
Shinn told the ministry he knows firsthand what it's like to struggle and go without at Christmastime.
Shinn and his wife will be on hand for the donation Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the ministry located at 705 Drexel Street in Nashville.
The public is invited to attend.
