A man was shot while sitting in his car Thursday evening near Fisk University.
According to officers on the scene, the victim was approached by a suspect at the intersection of 17th Avenue North and Jackson Street.
The suspect demanded money, the victim declined and an altercation broke out.
The suspect stole the victim's money and his pants before shooting him twice, including once in the leg.
The victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene.
Police are investigating.
