There have been a rash of car burglaries in the last month in La Vergne and police are warning residents to lock their vehicles.

Since November, police report 15 cars have been broken into.

While the majority of the break-ins occur at night, there have also been some during the morning hours.

According to police, subdivisions that have been most affected in the past month are Farmingdale and Dove Creek, McFarlin Pointe, and the Morningside area.

Items stolen include GPS devices, cell phones, laptop computers, loose change, phone chargers and other miscellaneous items.

“We urge residents to lock their doors anytime they are away from their car,” said La Verge police officer Scott Hudgens. “You should also remove all your valuables from your vehicle, or at least place them out of sight. We don't want a Grinch to steal your Christmas.”

Police also urge neighbors to report any suspicious activity around houses or vehicles.

The main number for the La Vergne Police Department is 615-793-7744.
