Every Tuesday night, The Bridge Ministry meets under the Jefferson Street Bridge to feed hundreds of Nashville's homeless.
In the spirit of giving, the ministry group is taking their outreach one step further with a special event this weekend called “The Bridge to Christmas.”
The event will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
The homeless and less fortunate will be treated to a free concert with performances by Ricky Skaggs, Sharon White, Jason Crabb and many more.
In addition to the concert, the group will distribute gifts and necessities to the homeless in hopes of making their holidays a little brighter.
The group will hand out thousands of toys, gift boxes, sleeping bags, personal hygiene boxes, shoes and blankets.
All of the items were donated and collected from generous community sponsors.
However, the group is still in need of more toys to hand out.
“We need toys, we want to make sure that every child gets a toy last year we had several hundred children and some of those children were turned away,” Candy Christmas, founder of The Bridge Ministry, told Nashville's News 2.
