A home in Clarksville was destroyed and a neighboring home received minor damage after a blaze broke out Tuesday afternoon.
The fire was reported in the 1900 block of Secretariate Court just off of Tiny Town Road.
Authorities told Nashville's News 2 a police officer driving in the area initially saw the smoke and reported the fire.
The home was reportedly fully engulfed when crews arrived on the scene.
Officials said they believe the fire sparked in the home's first level before quickly spreading. A neighboring home sustained damage to its siding.
No one was inside when the fire started, however two cats and two dogs are said to have died.
The American Red Cross is expected to assist the family.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
