Shocking video of an attack at an east Nashville gas station has people talking.
The video, released Wednesday by Metro Nashville Police Department, was recorded at the Citgo at 2814 Gallatin Pike on November 12 at 7 p.m.
The clip runs 12 minutes and shows interaction between the occupants of two vehicles.
Three women and one man in a gray Chevrolet HHR exchange words with a woman in another vehicle. The verbal altercation escalates to a physical altercation when the four suspects drag, punch, and kick the victim in the parking lot. The attack lasts for 30 seconds.
Yvonne Ibriham was inside the convenience store the night of the attack.
“I saw her [go] inside after the fighting,” she said. “She [went] inside and she tells us, 'Call the police. Someone fought me.'”
Ibriham saw the attack on the surveillance camera, but couldn't make out what was happening.
“I don't see the woman,” she said of the video, “so I don't know what this is.”
When the victim ran inside, Ibriham and a clerk immediately called police and came outside to help.
Nashville's News 2 showed the video to other customers on Thursday.
“That's terrible,” said Eron Kinley
“You can't even go to the gas station and pump gas,” added Tara Hughes
Beyond the shock of the crime, many are concerned about the humanity. As many as 10 cars passed by or drove through the gas station during that attack, but no one stopped to help.
“I would probably stand back because you never know who has a gun,” said Ethel Traughber.
“Wow, I don't know. Guns…people shoot. I don't know,” Kinley said.
“I would've stopped, but I would've called the law,” said Hughes. “I would've stayed in my car, but would've called the law.”
Most said they feared what would happen if they were to get directly involved in that sort of attack. Others feared what could happen next.
“It could happen to you. That's what so scary,” said Michelle Nuby.
Metro police investigators have received several tips since the video was released. No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
