Metro police arrested a man Wednesday after discovering three kids in his care had been left home alone.
The children were found hungry and crying at a home located in the 100 block of University Court when officers went to notify Stephen Bonner, 24, that he was due in court.
Bonner was nowhere to be found.
Two four-year-olds and a one-year-old child were in the home.
One of the four-year-olds told police she was hungry and asked for food and something to drink, according to police affidavits.
While officers were at the home, the mother of two of the children returned and stated that Bonner, a relative, was supposed to be watching them and she did not know where he was.
The woman called Bonner and he returned to the apartment a short time later. He told police he had gone to the store.
Bonner was charged with three felony counts of child neglect and booked into the Metro jail on a $7,500 bond.
The Tennessee Department of Children's Services is investigating. Two of the children are in the custody of their mother. The third child was returned to family members.
