Kentucky inmate injured in west Tenn. jail dies

TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Kentucky man who was serving a DUI sentence in a west Tennessee jail has died.

KYTN radio in Union City reported the Strong Funeral Home in Hickman, Ky., confirmed services for 40-year-old Jason Harrison of Hickman were pending, following an autopsy in Memphis.

Lake County Sheriff Brian Avery on Wednesday confirmed Harrison's death and said the cause of the injury that led to it is still under investigation.

Harrison was injured Sunday and died Tuesday at a Jackson hospital.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Kristin Helm said the state agency was asked by District Attorney General C. Phillip Bivens to assist the Lake County sheriff in an investigation of the death.

Harrison began serving a 120-day sentence in October on a third offense DUI conviction.
