Clarksville police charged a man with filing a false report after he reported he was the victim of an armed robbery late Monday afternoon.
Police said Keith Ferrero called 911 around 4 p.m. and said a man had taken his Audi A4 and was headed toward town on Ft. Campbell Boulevard.
As a result of the call, officers throughout the city immediately begin setting up potential target routes to intercept the stolen vehicle and suspect.
Police located the vehicle on Beech Street. The driver was taken into police custody for questioning.
During the course of their investigation, police discovered that Ferrero, 25, had loaned his car to the man, whom he knew, in exchange for money.
The man who borrowed the car was only supposed to have the vehicle for 30 minutes.
It was after the man had been gone for nearly an hour Ferrero called 911 with the fake robbery report.
He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $1,000 bond.
