KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Police say Tennessee tight end Brendan Downs has been arrested for underage consumption of alcohol and public intoxication.

According to The Knoxville News Sentinel, the 19-year-old sophomore was removed from the Whiskey Dix nightclub and arrested early Sunday morning after he reportedly created a disturbance by “becoming loud and using profane language.”

Tennessee spokesman Jimmy Stanton said the university is aware of the situation and is gathering facts.

Downs, who played in nine games as a backup to senior starter Mychal Rivera, played in Tennessee's season-ending victory over Kentucky on Saturday. He caught three passes for 39 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown against Akron on Sept. 22.

Downs turns 20 in May.
