More than two months after a father of three was stuck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, his loved ones are still learning how to cope with the unexpected loss.
Marc Pullo III was walking alongside Harding Place in south Nashville on September 9 around 11:30 p.m. when the accident occurred.
Marc's wife, Amy Walko, previously told Nashville's News 2 Investigates her husband was returning home from a trip to Walmart to pickup diapers and groceries for his family.
Amy said the loss of her husband of 14 years has been extremely difficult on her and Marc's three children Shawn, 9, Arissa, 2, and Jason, 1.
“Arissa has finally got the concept that daddy has died and that he won't be coming home,” she said. “Shawn is having the hardest time. His daddy was his best friend. He is suffering the most. He has had a tough time expressing what he is feeling and it gets bottled up.”
Despite the major loss, Amy said each passing day gets a little easier, however she is afraid that could change with the holidays right around the corner.
“It's kind of surreal. We are making Christmas lists for Santa and I don't have anyone to share it with,” she told Nashville's News 2.
Amy added that she wants others to remember her husband and best friend as the person he was.
“I just want people to remember him for who he was. [He was] so generous and honest and funny and a great dad most of all,” she said.
The stretch of Harding Place where Marc was hit has no sidewalks, and for years pedestrians have been demanding the city do something.
Police currently have no leads in the case, but believe the suspect was driving a red or brown vehicle.
The vehicle is likely to have damage to the front right side and passenger side.
The family is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the driver's arrest and conviction.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
