A career criminal and his accomplice have been indicted in connection to a murder during a suspected drug-related robbery plot.

In late June, Derrick Lyons was sitting in his car outside of the J.C. Napier Public Housing development in the 600 block of Claiborne Street, when two men pulled up in a black sedan and blocked Lyons in.

During an altercation, Lyons was killed and his green Mercedes SUV was taken.

Following the investigation, detectives arrested convicted felon Antonio Crockett, 34, and Timothy Wilson, 23, in connection with the murder.

Crockett and Wilson face charges of first degree murder, robbery-carjacking and unlawful weapon possession for killing Lyons.

Crockett has an extensive criminal record which lists 66 convictions between 1997 and 2011 including drug and robbery charges.

Crockett and Wilson remain in jail each on a $750,000 bond.
