Interstate 24 East was partially blocked for about an hour Friday afternoon following a crash involving a Metro police officer.

The crash at mile marker 56 near Briley Parkway was reported at 1:50 p.m. when a vehicle sideswiped the officer's cruiser.

Metro police spokesperson Kristin Mumford said the officer was not at fault and uninjured.

Eastbound traffic was affected with right lanes blocked.  Traffic was backed up toward downtown.

The crash was cleared and the road reopened by 2:50 p.m.
