The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested a Lawrenceburg woman on Monday who is accused of stealing more than $20,000 from more than a dozen patients with mental disabilities.

Rona Bivens was working for the Impact Center of Columbia when the incidents occurred.

Authorities said the investigation against the 48-year-old woman began in February of 2011 after Adult Protective Services sent TBI a referral about allegations against her.

Bivens was employed at the non-profit organization from August 2008 until February 2011.

She was taken into custody at her Maury County home without incident on Monday morning.

Bivens has been indicted on three counts of theft under $500, four counts of theft over $500, seven counts of theft over $1,000 and 14 counts of willful exploitation of an adult.

She remains jailed on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court next Monday.
