Police charged a Murfreesboro fire captain with driving under the influence early Friday morning.
According to police, Ralph Lehew was initially stopped just after 3 a.m. after an officer witnessed him driving recklessly on Old Fort Parkway near Petsmart.
The arresting officer reported Lehew, who is an employee of Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Station 3 located on Mercury Boulevard, smelled of alcohol, as well as had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.
Authorities said Lehew performed poorly on sobriety tests before he was taken into police custody.
After being transported to the county jail, Lehew refused to take a blood test.
He was booked on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court in late February.
