Franklin police hope surveillance video will help catch two burglars who robbed a Williamson County home earlier this month.

The incident happened before Noon on October 5 in the 300 block of Mill Pond Circle in the Jackson Lake Subdivision.

According to police, the suspects first knocked on the door of a nearby house.

“They were surprised when the person came to the door and said, 'Uh, is your house for sale?' Well there was no fore sale sign in the front yard,” Franklin police Lt. Charles Warner told Nashville's News 2.

He continued, “When the suspects went to the next home and didn't get anyone to come to the door, that's when they actually broke in and got away with upwards of $50,000 in jewelry and handbags.”

One neighbor told police a couple was in the neighborhood and described them as Hispanic.  The woman had a long ponytail and the man was “very large.”

A neighbor said she saw the woman running across a lawn carrying a number of handbags.

A private surveillance video from a nearby home caught a glimpse of the getaway vehicle, what is believed to be a white SUV.

Warner told Nashville's News 2 that daytime burglars often work this way.

He said, “Daytime burglars are notorious for knocking on the front door or ringing the doorbell, trying to determine if someone is home or not.  Many times in those cases, if you don't answer the door within three to five minutes they're kicking in your backdoor.”

If such a situation should occur, police urge residents to watch where the person goes and to write down as much information as possible, including the suspected person and vehicle description and to call police.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary is urged to call Williamson County Crime Stoppers at 615-294-4000.
