NASCAR's most popular driver won't be on the track for the next few weeks.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is sitting out the races at Charlotte and Kansas because of a concussion suffered in the big wreck last week at Talladega.
The injury kills any chances Earnhardt had at the Sprint Cup Points championship.
He was in 11th place after the wreck last week and his chances were already slim.
Hendrick Motorsports said Earnhardt Jr. was diagnosed Wednesday afternoon.
Regan Smith will replace Earnhardt Jr. in the No. 88 Chevrolet.
