Veteran actress Connie Britton is said to carry the major story line in ABC's new television series “Nashville.”

The Boston native has been acting most of her life, and for the most part, those roles have included likeable characters, including her latest as Rayna James.

Britton's character on the much anticipated show, a combination of country superstars Faith Hill and Reba McEntire, is a country music veteran who's at a career crossroads.

Britton, like all of the stars on the show, does her own singing.

The actress recently admitted on “Live with Kelly and Michael,” that she had to receive professional help before filming began earlier this year.

“I'm taking voice lessons.  I'm working with T-Bone Burnett who's the most incredible music producer on the planet and it's really, really exciting, but for me I really needed to do those voice lessons because I was definitely rusty.  My singing was really rusty,” she said.

As for the series premiere of the show, Britton said is hopeful audiences will enjoy it.

“I just think it's something that audiences haven't seen before. You know, the music is so great.  The storytelling is so great.  There's something in it for everybody. I hope that audiences are really going to love it,” she said on Good Morning America.

Britton adopted a little boy from Ethiopia last November.

“Nashville” premieres Wednesday at 9 p.m., on Nashville's News 2.
