Beginning Monday, a north Nashville fire station will be temporarily closed while crews begin a major renovation project.

The staff and equipment from Fire Station 11, located at 1745 18th Avenue North, will be temporarily assigned to other locations in the response area.

The reconstruction of the fire hall is part of a plan by Nashville Mayor Karl Dean to repair or replace existing fire stations within a two year period.

Station 11 is expected to be complete in 2013.
