Miguel Cabrera wins American League Triple Crown

Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera joined elite company Wednesday night winning the American League's Triple Crown. He's the 15th player in Major League history to do it, joining names like Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams.

Cabrera led the AL hitting .330 with 44 homers and 139 runs batted in. Cabrera's home run lead was in jeopardy when the Yankees Curtis Granderson hit two homers tonight giving him 43 for the season, but the Yankees pinch hit for Granderson handing Cabrera his place in history.

Cabrera went 0 for 2 against the Royals before leaving in the fourth inning to a standing ovation.

Boston's Carl Yastrzemski was the previous player to achieve the Triple Crown in 1967.
