A Dickson County couple discovered four horses and two mules abandoned in their yard over the weekend.
Rick and Jackie Harmon found the six animals around 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
“We heard the dog barking and when we looked out, there they were standing in the yard,” Jackie told Nashville's News 2.
The couple said the animals seemed friendly and tried to climb on the front porch.
“He just came right up on the steps,” said Jackie. “Then they started knocking over everything on the picnic table and drinking the water and just running around like it was no big deal like they were in the field somewhere eating.”
The Dickson County Sheriff's Office and animal control were notified of the incident but have been unable to find the owner.
The animals do not show any signs of abuse.
Officers suspected someone may have dropped the animals at Harmon's home, but the couple thinks it's possible they got loose and wandered there.
The animals are penned up at a neighbor's farm.
The owner has 30 days to claim them. Otherwise, the animals will be sold or given to a horse rescue group.
A Facebook page has been set up in an effort to locate the animals' owners.
