Murfreesboro police arrested and charged a Dickson man over the weekend after his four young children were found home alone.
The discovery was made around 11 p.m. Saturday after one of the kids exited the home and was found crying outside.
According to the arrest report, Rodger Katzenmaier, 25, was watching the children, all under the age of six, while his estranged wife was at work.
He told police he left the residence to make a phone call. He stated he thought the children were asleep and that he “didn't think he was gone very long.”
He also said he didn't realize the [the oldest child] could unlock the door.
Katzenmaier was charged with four counts of child neglect and booked into the Rutherford County jail.
The Tennessee Department of Children's Services was notified.
