A Murfreesboro woman who was being booked on public intoxication charges faces additional charges after she allegedly bit a corrections officer on Friday.

According to a report in the Daily News Journal, Carla Corbett became very combative after she was taken into police custody and booked at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

The paper reported the 27-year-old refused to follow commands by the jail staff and repeatedly asked to retrieve phone numbers from her cell phone.

Corbett is also said to have made unpermitted calls with the mobile device before her phone was taken by officers.

Corbett was then handcuffed while officers completed an intake of her personal belongings. A short time after being restrained, Corbett allegedly took her belongings and put them in her pants.

When asked to remove the items, she refused and began to fight authorities.

While trying to subdue Corbett, the woman bite a corrections officer.

The employee was treated by a jail nurse before seeking treatment at an area hospital.

Corbett is charged with public intoxication among other charges.
