MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Athens police say a Tennessee man accused of shooting a passing motorcyclist on a North Alabama highway told them he was angry at his father and “just wanted to shoot someone.”
The Athens News-Courier reported that the shooting occurred Monday night on U.S. 72 East. Athens police charged 20-year-old Noah Andrew McGlawn of Whitesville, Tenn. with attempted murder and with shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said the shooting suspect fled the scene, but a man later called police and said he had shot a motorcyclist.
Injured was 23-year-old Brandon Matlock of Athens. Matlock was listed in fair condition Tuesday at Huntsville Hospital.
McGlawn was being held Tuesday without bail at the Limestone County Jail. His attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
