Board meets to discuss Great Hearts charter school

On Tuesday night, the Metro School Board met in a closed door meeting to discuss the charter school organization, Great Hearts Academy.

The charter school is hoping to open schools in Nashville.

The state of Tennessee recently overrode Metro's decision to turn down Great Heart's application, however the school board has yet to change their position.

“We've been threatened with a lawsuit, with litigation, with that said, we deserve to know what we need to do, what our rights are, what our responsibilities are,” Anna Shepherd of District 4 said.

Great Hearts told Nashville's News 2 they have no comment on Tuesday night's meeting.

The school board is set to meet early next week.
