New Orleans Saints fans in Nashville are watching tropical storm Isaac's progress closely as they prepare to support the NFL team when the players meet the Tennessee Titans in pre-season play Thursday.

Vanderbilt University senior David Gallo still remembers living through Hurricane Katrina in 2005. His family is riding out Isaac in New Orleans.

“We have a generator at our house so I have been on the phone with my parents all day they are doing fine a little bit of wind damage it is not to bad,” he said. “I know they want to watch the game tomorrow night so hopefully there is power there.”

Joel Derby, also a senior at Vanderbilt, is also keeping in touch with family members in Louisiana.

“Our land line is still working,” he said. “They said they are doing fine they are just hunkering down right now and waiting it out hoping they can get some power soon.”

The New Orleans Saints arrived in Nashville Wednesday evening from Cincinnati where the team had been practicing ahead of Thursday's game.

Following Hurricane Katrina the return of the New Orleans Saints and the team's subsequent Super Bowl XLIV victory helped inspire New Orleans residents.

Jackie Thibault recently moved to Nashville from New Orleans. She got married there two years ago.

“Sports is a nationwide thing everybody can enjoy sports,” she said. “Even though they [the Saints] are here and they travel around it gives New Orleans people hope.”

The Saints Facebook page posted a quote from quarterback Drew Brees to Saints fans Wednesday.

“We've been through this before. Stick together. Obviously, do everything you can do to keep yourself, your families and those around you safe. I know we're ready. We're prepared for this. We have been for a long time.”

It is still unclear if the team will be able to return to New Orleans after the football game.

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport has canceled all flights for Thursday.

The Saints-Titans match up will be Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. The game will be carried on Nashville's News 2.
