On his second day at Tennessee Tech, wide receiver Da'rick Rogers admitted failed drug tests led to Derek Dooley kicking him off the team at the University of Tennessee.
Rogers didn't duck the issue saying, “a couple of drug tests, yes sir.”
He added it was a matter of “being a young, immature guy. Those are things that I've got to work on and I plan to work on.”
He also said head coach Watson Brown was the right guy to help him work through his issues and was like a father figure away from home.
Rogers was suspended indefinitely by Tennessee on Thursday for an unspecified violation of team rules.
His transfer to Tennessee Tech was announced four days later. Rogers is eligible to play for the Golden Eagles immediately and is expected to see some action in the opener.
Rogers caught 67 passes for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns to earn all-Southeastern Conference honors for Tennessee last season.
