A patient at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute in Nashville was booked into the Metro jail Friday for the beating death of a fellow patient earlier this year.

A Davidson County grand jury recently indicted Thaddeus Odom, 60, on one count of second degree murder for the April 19 beating death of James Hodge.

Metro police said Hodge, 53, and Odom were involved in a fight in the early morning hours of April 19 and were separated by staff members.

A few hours later, Odom followed Hodge to a dayroom and attacked him.  Hodge suffered severe head injuries and later died.

Odom was booked into the Metro jail Thursday on a $250,000 bond.
