After two years of legal battles, the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro hosted its first day of prayer Friday.
Last month, a federal judge ruled the congregation has a right to worship there as soon as the building is ready.
On Tuesday, county officials granted the paperwork needed for the center to open.
Mosque leaders said they planned to have extra security on hand but believe it would be a peaceful evening.
The day of prayer began at 1 p.m.
