More than 700,000 hotel room nights have already been booked in advance of the opening of the new Music City Center next year.
“When you start to book a million room nights a year you start to drive hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars in new spending into the city, so its about jobs, and about sales tax and just a whole new level that the city is playing at today,” Butch Spyridon, President of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau said.
Officials also said there are 86 events scheduled at the convention center which will feature a ballroom and 60 meeting rooms of varying sizes.
The new 16 acre, $585 million convention center is scheduled to open in April 2013.
