Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan announced on Thursday evening residents are no longer under a mandatory water restriction.

Despite the lifted mandated restriction, customers are now placed under voluntary water usage restrictions.

“The weather finally cooperated a bit, temporary redundant pumping has been installed and we are able to lift the restrictions,” McMillan said.

She continued, “I appreciate the patience and support we've received from the community and ask that everyone continue to be vigilant about limiting their water usage. If history is a guide, we still have the hottest part of the summer to get through.”

Stage I of voluntary water restrictions for all customers include reduction in frequency of watering new and first year landscaping, reduction in washing and rinsing vehicles and reduction in water for recreational use.

The city of Clarksville was first placed on a water restriction earlier this week.
