Metro School Board approves 2 additional charter schools

Two additional charter schools received approval from the school board to move forward in Davidson County.

After rejecting several applications last month, officials reversed their decision and approved Kipp Academy and Purpose Prep in a meeting on Tuesday night.

Members said the two schools met the board's previous concerns.

The board denied the appeals of three other charter schools including Genesis Transitions, Excel Academy and Great Hearts.

Last month the board approved Intrepid College Prep, which will be located in Antioch, and Nashville Classical, which will be in east Nashville.
