NEWPORT, Tenn. (AP) – An East Tennessee sheriff says the deaths of 3 people whose bodies were found in a mobile home fire were probably intentional.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes said investigators are treating the incident as a homicide.
Firefighters responded to a fire at the trailer Saturday night. Neighbors thought the couple who lived there with their 3-year-old son weren't home because their car was missing.
When firefighters returned after daylight Sunday, they found a severely burned adult body. The remains of a second adult were found later in the day and the body of a small child was discovered Monday afternoon.
Fontes said authorities are looking for the couple's car, a white 2000 Nissan Maxima with a broken windshield, a loud exhaust and Cocke County license plate 810-YCW.
