A Maury County woman wanted in connection to the death of her boyfriend was captured Thursday morning in Alabama, just over the Tennessee state line.

U.S. marshals took Heather Davis into custody after tracking her to a home in Madison County.

Davis, 25, was wanted on a charge of criminally negligent homicide in connection to the death of her boyfriend, 28-year-old Jonathan Vernon.

Maury County 911 dispatchers received a call from Davis on February 1 reporting that her boyfriend was not breathing.

Columbia police officers and medical personnel responded to the couple's home Owen Avenue in Columbia and discovered Vernon deceased inside.

Autopsy results indicated that Vernon died as a result of a prescription drug overdose.

During the investigation, detectives received information that indicated Davis contributed to his death.

The case was presented to a Maury County grand jury who handed down an indictment for criminally negligent homicide.

Davis will be returned to Maury County to face the homicide charge.
