Metro police Sunday night charged a Nashville man with the fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend.
Officers responded to the victim's home located in the 3200 block of Rainwood Drive around 7 p.m. and found her ex, 38-year-old Daryle Thomas, with blood on his hands and clothes.
“When they responded, they discovered that the victim had been stabbed multiple times,” Metro police Capt. Ken Walburn told Nashville's News 2. “The suspect was still on the scene.”
The investigation shows that Thomas armed himself with a knife before going to Dematrice Lee's residence.
Thomas waited for Lee, 32, to arrive, confronted her and stabbed her several times.
Lee was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Thomas surrendered himself to responding officers.
He admitted to the murder during a later interview and is charged with criminal homicide.
Metro police said Thomas was angry over the couple's break up a few weeks ago.
He was charged with criminal homicide and booked into the Metro jail on a $500,000 bond.
