A teenage burglary suspect was ejected from a vehicle while trying to evade police Thursday morning in south Nashville.

Metro police were called to the 2800 block in Foster Avenue around 1 a.m. to check on a call of suspicious activity behind a business when they saw a car speed away.

Police backed off the chase because of the suspect's dangerous driving and decided to alert nearby officers to search the area.

The pursuit ended when the suspect was ejected after he crashed the vehicle at the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Patterson Street.  He received non-life threatening injuries.

Captain Ken Walburn told Nashville's News 2, “Anytime someone's driving carelessly and they crash, it's a dangerous situation, not only for them, but for other motorists on the street.  It's just a good reminder to be aware of other vehicles on the road and always make sure you wear your seatbelt when you get in your vehicle.”

Police believed the vehicle in the crash was stolen from a business on Foster Avenue.

The suspect's identity was not immediately released.
