Franklin police were called to a hospital in Williamson County after medical examiners discovered a man who was seeking treatment for back pain had actually been shot while working Sunday.
Officers were called to Williamson Medical Center around 3:20 p.m. after emergency room staff determined the man had been shot with a small caliber bullet.
According to a press release, the 48-year-old contractor was working outside a home in the 100 block of Grove Lane in the Polk Place subdivision when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his back.
The victim was taken to the hospital by co-workers to be treated for the pain.
The man has since been transported to a Nashville trauma center where he is listed in serious condition.
The investigation is ongoing.
