Developers announced plans Tuesday to open a new seven-story hotel off West End Avenue near the campus of Nashville's Vanderbilt University
Designed to reflect the architectural style of Vanderbilt, the 192-room Homewood Suites will be located at the intersection of 24th Avenue North and West End Avenue on the site now occupied by F.Y.E. Records and the Carmichael Place Shopping Center.
The 1.36-acre property was among the earliest commercial developments along West End Avenue in the 1920s and is now a primary entranceway to the Vanderbilt campus.
The building will feature an indoor pool, 176 underground parking spaces, a meeting room seating 200 people and a boardroom.
Construction of the new hotel is expected to begin in March 2012 and be completed by early summer 2013.
