Antioch Pike in south Nashville was shut down Thursday morning after the driver of a pickup truck struck a power pole during the early morning hours and then fled the scene.
The crash was reported between Reeves Road and Blue Hole Road just before 2 a.m.
Antioch Pike was shut down for several hours while Nashville Electric Service crews worked to repair the pole and restore electrical service to affected customers.
As many as six homes in the area were without power, according to Nashville Electric Service.
Metro police said the pickup crashed into a guardrail and then hit the pole, causing wires to fall onto the truck.
Luckily, the wires are on a fuse and went dead as soon as they fell.
When first responders arrived on the scene, the driver of the truck was nowhere to be found.
The crash remains under investigation.
Antioch Pike reopened shortly after 8 a.m.
Anyone with information is urged to call Metro police or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
