A Massachusetts-based company could bring hundreds of jobs to Clarksville if a job fair proves to be successful.

The roadside assistance service Agero is looking to open a new call center in either Clarksville or Florence, South Carolina.

The company is holding a job fair in each location before a final decision is made.

“We are trying to compare two different communities, Clarksville, Tennessee and Florence, South Carolina and looking at the labor pool, not only for our current growth, but also future growth within the community,” explained Vice President of Human Resources Sandy Savage

The Clarksville job fair is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at the Hilton Garden Inn located off exit 4 of Interstate 24 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.

“We are looking for about 500 agents, those who have demonstrated customer service skills, demonstrate empathy and professionalism. Those are types of individuals that we are looking for,” Savage told Nashville's News 2.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council President James Chavez said he believes Clarksville would be the perfect place for Agero to open the new call center.

“We know the people in our backyard. We know the talent that's there.  The big thing is for people to show up, [and be] ready to talk [and be] ready for an interview,” Chavez said.

If Clarksville is chosen for the Agero call center, it will be located at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Corporate Business Park, located just off Interstate 24 at exit 4.

“It is a 52,000-square feet speculative building that was built for back office operations, shared services operations [or] call centers, so it is a perfect fit for them,” Associate Vice President of Industrial Development Board Rod Kirk said.

On Tuesday, officials said around 500 applicants attended the job fair.

Around 3,000 people attended the job fair in South Carolina.

Agero currently has locations in four states and plans to have the new call center opened in either state by June 1.
