The Metro Council Tuesday night gave final approval for proposed multi-million dollar upgrades to LP Field to start next year.
The measure calls for nearly $27 million in upgrades to the Metro-owned facility, Including a new sound system, HD scoreboards, fan lounges and elevators to the upper decks.
The improvements will be paid for by floating bonds. A $2 ticket tax on most stadium events will be used to pay for the bonds.
The first round of improvements is expected to be finished in 2012.
The Metro Sports Authority approved the upgrades to the stadium early last month.
