A 28-year-old Hendersonville man was laid to rest Monday following a pileup that involved more than 100 vehicles.
Paul Warren died in the crash last Thursday morning on Vietnam Veterans Boulevard.
He was on his way to work at Vol State Bank when his car slammed into the back of a tractor trailer.
Warren graduated from Lipscomb University and Hendersonville High School. He got married less than two months ago in October.
His funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hendersonville First Baptist Church. Visitation began at 12 Noon.
Hendersonville police are still investigating the pileup, which involved four separate crash scenes and spanned more than a mile.
Heavy, dense fog in the area is likely to blame, although icing conditions on the roadway likely contributed.
The first crash was reported shortly after 7 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Vietnam Vets at the exit to Saundersville Road, exit 8. The interchange is located about 20 miles northeast of Nashville in Sumner County.
A total of 174 vehicles were in some way impacted by the pileup. Forty-five cars were damaged.
Sixteen people were transported to area hospitals with injuries.
Police said James Ziegler, 62, of Old Hickory, died Friday morning from injuries sustained in the pileup.
