State troopers took 26 protesters into custody around Midnight Friday but Judicial Commissioner Tom Nelson later dismissed their warrants.
The protesters were transported to the Davidson County jail where troopers issued them misdemeanor citations for criminal trespassing.
Two of the protesters were also charged with public intoxication and one with criminal impersonation.
The protesters were released around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.
A new policy by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security makes the Legislative Plaza, War Memorial Courtyard and Capitol grounds areas closed to the public from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. daily.
