An up and coming Nashville neighborhood is experiencing a business boom as more and more retailers and restaurants are opening their doors.

The 12th South area currently includes popular restaurants such as Mafiaozas and Burger Up and three new restaurants scheduled to open in upcoming months.

The new restaurant plans to employ around 60 people.

Just a few blocks down, Edley's Bar-B-Que is scheduled to open next month

Edley's owner, Will Newman said it's a vibrant time for the neighborhood.

“I've had my eye on the 12th Avenue area for a couple of years now. It's just a booming area and so we are excited,” he said.

Just down the way from the upcoming barbeque joint, Jeremy Barlow opened the doors to Sloco.

“You know I live in the area so I have a good understanding I think of what people want here and we've really tried to focus on what we do. Good sandwiches, really fast,” he explained.

Barlow, who also owns the restaurant Tayst said the variety of new spots is just what the city needs.

“Every vibrant city has multiple regions within the city that are hubs of where the community hangs out and we are turning into one of those and I like it,” he said.
