An Antioch dental clinic is offering free dental services Friday for its second annual Free Dentistry Day.
Around 200 people were expected to attend the event at Cane Ridge Dentist located at 1315 Bell Road.
Patients will have the option of choosing either one free cleaning, one free extraction or one free filling.
Some began lining up at 10 p.m. Thursday.
Cynthia Herring arrived around 5 a.m. Friday and was the fifteenth person in line.
She told Nashville's News 2 she planned to have a tooth pulled, adding, “I think it is a good thing for more people who don't have insurance for teeth so it's real good, real good.”
Last year, Cane Ridge Dentist performed $40,000 worth of dental work for free and this year, planned to double that figure.
“Now more than ever, there are people in Antioch who need dental services but have no means to afford them, whether they're out of a job, or just don't have dental insurance,” Dr. Anna Singh explained. “This event is a great opportunity for us to share our time and resources with those less fortunate and give back to the community we serve.”
Cane Ridge Dentist said it hopes to continue the annual event for years to come.
Dr. Kellee McKenzie said, “Our office hosted this event last year and it was a huge success for us and our community. We served nearly 200 people, and our goal is to continue this event every year.”
Cane Ridge Dentist is located on the corner of Bell and Blue Hole Roads in Antioch.
Patients will be seen on a first come first serve basis.
Dr. Singh told Nashville's News 2 they originally planned to close at 3 p.m. but would likely stay open until at least 5 p.m. to accommodate all the patients.
